Sussex reputation for fine food takes another step forward. Fab delicatessen and wine merchant Pallant of Arundel has been nominated for Deli of the Year 2011. The award is judged by some of the UK’s leading food experts. Regional winners making the finals are visited by a mystery shopper, and the champion deli will be announced at the oscars of the fine food world in London in September.
“Our loyal customers love everything about deli food – so we hope they will come in to see us and support us in the competition. We would love to be a regional finalist and our dedicated team would love even more to win the national title – we think it would really be something to celebrate for Arundel and for West Sussex.” said owner Jonathan Brantigan.
Deli of the Year is an idea created and organised by Olives Et Al, a food producer in Dorset, and supported by The Guild of Fine Food. The competition is open to all, from the smallest post office with a tiny deli counter to high street delis and rural farm shops. The organisers believe that the deli culture is worth protecting and celebrating.
Customers of Pallant of Arundel are invited to pop into the shop to show their support and to visit www.delioftheyear.co.uk to add their vote. Voting closes at midnight on 31st May.
