Now a major part of Arundel’s events calendar, Arundel by Candlelight takes place on 08 December 2012 and will be full of Christmas Cheer, shopping and eating for all the family. In the town square, as the traditional tall Christmas Tree shines brightly against the early evening, the whole Town will look magical with shops, restaurants and houses decorated with trees, lights and candles as well as stalls selling a wide array of Christmas goodies. Not to forget delicious aromas of mulled wine, mince pies, hog roast, pancakes & more to eat.
Children are invited to make lanterns and then join the Candlelight Parade before visiting Santa in his grotto and taking a ride on the Carousel. Families can walk safely through the town, taking in the atmosphere: listening to Christmas Carols as the scent of mulled wine, hog roast and roasted chestnuts fills the air.
The roads will be closed to traffic allowing people to mill around the shops and Christmas Market stalls safely, while browsing for the perfect gift. Entertainment will include:

- Sue Taylor's Glee Choir – 16.15 to 17.15
- Lantern Procession – from approx. 17.30
- Arundel Cathedral Choir – 17.45 to 18.45
Arundel’s independent shops and galleries will be filled with a fabulous selection of gifts – toys, games, china, handbags, jewellery, women’s and childrens’ fashion, contemporary art, glassware, antiques, books, men’s and women’s grooming, kitchenware, chocolates, furniture, candles and many many more ideas - making it possible to find a gift suitable for even the trickiest of friends or relatives. All of which will create a wonderful atmosphere to get you, your family and friends into the Christmas mood for some shopping, eating and drinking.
After you have shopped you may want to dine at one of the many pubs and restaurants in town or you may just enjoy a drink in one of the traditional pubs or wine bars. Many of these are offering special menus for the Christmas period.
So, come to enjoy Arundel by Candlelight and start the festive season in style.
Shops will stay open till 7pm (some may be later).
Tarrant Street and part of the High Street will be closed to traffic from 11am to 8pm
