Movie magic and music under the stars
This September Borde Hill Garden, Haywards Heath launches a new open-air cinema event, with screenings of Grand Budapest Hotel, Top Gun & The Great Gatsby. Spend an evening with family and friends enjoying a great film in a gorgeous Sussex location, overlooking the Elizabethan Mansion, parkland and lakes.
Friday 19th September, Grand Budapest Hotel (15)
The adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous hotel from the fictional Republic of Zubrowka between the first and second World Wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. Starring Ralph Fiennes & a star-studded cast including Bill Murray, Jude Law, Owen Wilson.
Saturday 20th September, Top Gun (12)
As students at the Navy's elite fighter weapons school compete to be best in the class, one daring young flyer learns a few things from a civilian instructor that are not taught in the classroom. Starring Tom Cruise, Meg Ryan and Val Kilmer
Sunday 21st September, The Great Gatsby (12A)
Follow the life and times of millionaire Jay Gatsby and his neighbour Nick, who recounts his encounter with Gatsby at the height of the Roaring Twenties. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan.
Tickets include an opportunity to explore the historic Garden after hours (6pm to 7pm), with its secret ‘garden rooms’ and explore this year’s sculpture exhibition with 62 pieces set within the Garden. Then from 7pm there will be live music/entertainment on the stage before the film starts at sunset, 7:45pm.
Hot pies, local ales and homemade popcorn will be available thanks to the scrumptious (& local) The Humble Pie Company, but picnics are welcome. Please bring your own seating; blankets will be placed at the front of the viewing area, for the consideration of all guests.
