Easter Family Fun at Plumpton’s Two Day Festival
Plumpton Racecourse is holding its annual family fun, two day festival on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. The course anticipates its biggest attendance of the year with an impressive card of racing on offer alongside plentiful family activities and under 18s go completely free!
With the family theme in mind, a children’s Easter bonnet competition will take place on Easter Sunday in the Winners Enclosure at 1.00pm, judged by Whinny the Plumpton mascot. The lucky winner will receive a family ticket to Fishers Farm Park and a giant Easter egg, with all entrants receiving an egg on the day. On Easter Monday, Peppa Pig will be joining in the fun to see the children at intervals throughout the day.
Both days offer a traditional fun fair, free face painting, free pony rides for budding young jockeys, rock climbing walls and laser tag. Live music from Top Bananas, the folk band on stilts, can be enjoyed around the course throughout the day.
On Easter Sunday, Plumpton’s feature race is the totepool Sussex Champion Hurdle worth £30,000. The quality of racing over the two days has substantially improved over recent years and now the total prize money available is an impressive £115,000, sure to attract the top trainers and jockeys.
For racing first timers, ‘Ask the Expert’ sessions fall between races, from none other than ex-jockey Colin Brown, who famously rode Desert Orchid. He’ll be on hand to guide racegoers through the day’s card from the Parade Ring.
Michael Moloney, Chief Executive of Plumpton, says:
“Our family fun two day festival over the Easter weekend is one of my favourite occasions at the racecourse. There is so much to entertain the children and some outstanding and exhilarating racing to boot. I’m certain that Peppa Pig will be a popular addition this year and we are looking forward to seeing the Easter bonnet creations too!
“Under 18’s go free, so families are able to enjoy a great value day out, bring along a picnic and enjoy the Sussex countryside or make it an occasion and treat themselves to a delicious three course lunch in the Paddock or Marquee restaurants.”
Gates open at 11.00am and with a record attendance expected, racegoers are urged to arrive early or travel by train. To take advantage of our advance ticket offers please visit plumptonracecourse.co.uk.
