On Saturday 14th July local celebrity Natasha Kaplinsky will be opening a new 1-mile woodland trail at 62 acre Wilderness Wood near Uckfield in East Sussex.
Join Natasha on the first ever guided tour around the new trail route, discovering the wood's history (from Roman iron smelting to local beer production), learning the ins and outs of timber production over the centuries to the present day, and visiting a range of the woodland's varied habitats along a network of new paths and walkways.
ITV's Natasha says: "Growing up in the Sussex countryside, as a child I loved playing around outdoors. Nowadays things are so much busier it can be hard to find places where the whole family can enjoy getting back to nature, so it's wonderful to have Wilderness Wood nearby. I've been coming here for years and there's always something new to see or do. It's really exciting to be able to explore new parts of the woodland on this beautiful trail".
Wilderness Wood Director & green living expert Joanna Yarrow says: “My parents created the original woodland trail over 25 years ago. As a child growing up here I knew every inch of the wood (on and off trails!) like the back of my hand. Wilderness Wood has evolved enormously since then, so it's wonderful to be able to explore new areas and reveal the wood's stories to a new generation of visitors".
