A 12 month labour of love renovating a 17th century corn threshing barn on the borders of Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire comes to completion when The Barn at Roundhurst bed and breakfast welcomes its first guests.
Lower Roundhurst Farm near Haslemere is a 250 acre organic cattle farm. Owner Moya McConnell has restored and renovated outbuildings to provide a six bedroomed boutique guest accommodation located around a stunning oak-beamed barn which provides the reception, dining and lounge area.
“Although the barn was in a terrible state when we first bought the farm in November 2004 it was always my dream to share the space with b & b guests, bespoke corporate events or exclusive hire for small private parties” Moya commented. “To see it now restored so beautifully makes all the hard work of last year worthwhile.”
The venue has captured the imagination of visitors as the team have been taking bookings since April, despite the site resembling a construction site awash with torrential rain.
“The weather wasn’t kind to us during the spring months but in the final week with the sun shining the whole place has been transformed and the gardens look stunning” Moya continued. “Luckily we finished the bedrooms and bathrooms first so have been working on the interior design and furnishings to achieve a “luxury boutique hotel” standard that remians true to the heritage and age of the buildings."
