During summer 2012 rural communities, villages and towns across East Sussex are hosting traditional fetes, fayres, festivals and parties to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic Torch relay.
Applause Outdoors 212, presented by Applause Rural Touring and PANeK (Performing Arts Network Kent), has commissioned a new piece of roaming theatre especially for Olympic Torch relay visit celebrations. Puppit + Digit are two life-sized robotic puppets with built in touch-screen technology so you can share your stories of the Olympics with them as they journey through the streets of East Sussex during this very special summer. Applause Outdoors 212 has also given 6 South East based theatre companies support to develop pop-up theatre performances that are interactive, suitable for all the family and compliment any outdoor event.
What is more, Applause Outdoors 212 has offered these performances to village fetes for free and to festivals at a subsidised rate, so that everyone has access to great arts in their community. With a list of 30 events across East Sussex, Applause Outdoors 212 has an unparalleled insight into where and when great British summer events are happening across the county. Not only can we promise wonderfully engaging and unique arts performances but also a guide to finding a street party for the Jubilee, an Olympic Torch relay celebration, a fayre, a festival, or a community picnic.
This summer promises to be a busy, vibrant and exciting – Applause Outdoors 212 will ensure visitors to the county and people who live here don’t miss out on the many unique outdoor events happening throughout East Sussex.
