Borde Hill Garden plans to keep young visitors on their toes throughout the autumn half term holiday with special Halloween week events running every day from October 23rd to November 3rd.
Fearless explorers of all ages can take part in the Dragon and Pumpkin Trails and visit the witch in her house. Courageous children can enter the Ghost Tent and become a dragon, vampire, skeleton or witch with spooky face paints. Get arty and make some fun and freaky craft pieces to take home for the family. Storytelling and wand-making are featured this year, join in with the spooky story which leads you around the Garden with your very own handmade wand.
Borde Hill’s fun Adventure Playground opens for children of all ages, including balance beams and a challenging zip-line for older children, plus a safe area for toddlers.
Visit and explore the Garden in the dark with a special late-night opening on Wednesday 30th October (until 7pm). Bring along a pumpkin and carving tools and show off your creative skills in the pumpkin carving competition. Food and refreshments will be available as well as other activities in the Ghost Tent.
Bat Encounter Sessions - Sunday 27th October and Wednesday 30th October 2013
Arranged with Sussex Bat Group, in connection with the RHS Wild About Gardens Week, come along for an interesting and informative talk on bats. Suitable for all ages, get up close with three different species of bat and get a sense of these fascinating creatures. Talks take place on both days at 2:30pm and at 3:30pm. Each talk lasts between 20-30 minutes and spaces are limited so everyone present can see, hear and interact with the bats.
Visitors can also enjoy the autumn splendour that extends into panoramic views across the lakes and 200 acres of rolling parkland. From the Azalea Ring and Italian Garden, to the sub-tropical Round Dell, the garden is full of autumnal colour including fuchsias, dalhias, grasses and hydrageas.
Located 1.5 miles north of Haywards Heath, Sussex. Borde Hill Garden is open daily (10am to 6pm or dusk if earlier) until November 3rd 2013.
Price for adults is £8 and children three years and over is £5. A family day ticket starts at £22.
