ZigZag Cycling Ltd has been formed by two friends who share a passion for active lifestyles and particularly for escaping to the hills on their mountain bikes. Mike Porteous is a former World Long Distance Triathlon Championship competitor for Great Britain and his business partner Nick Finch has competed in the ABSA CApe Epic, one of the world's toughest multi-day mountain bike races.
This Sussex based business makes the most of the bridleways and byways crisscrossing the South Downs for mountain biking – and it’s aiming to bring mountain biking on the South Downs to a much wider audience of riders and would-be riders than currently enjoy the great experiences to be had.
These include weekend breaks that combine great off-road cycling with the comforts of a four star hotel. The package includes a full day and a half exploring the best of the South Downs with a qualified mountain bike guide in a small group; 3 course evening meal and cooked breakfast, plus food on route; modern en suite double room; bike wash and safe lock up - so everything is taken care of.
Tailor made mini breaks are also available for groups of up to six. Coming soon will be guided tours across the whole of the South Downs Way with high quality accommodation and other attractions on route.
There’s a lot more on offer too: lots of regular rides on the South Downs, tuition for those new to mountain biking, forest night rides with top of the range lights and trips further afield.
