Former double Olympic champion and this year’s Badminton winner Mark Todd will be among a host of top riders competing at South of England International Horse Trials, at the showground Ardingly, West Sussex, on 14-15 April. Todd will ride one of his London Olympic hopefuls.
Husband and wife duo Lucinda and Clayton Fredericks, who between them have won Badminton, Burghley and the World Cup final, will also be vying for top prizes here, while Rolex Grand Slam winner and double European gold medallist Pippa Funnell will ride several of her horses over the course of the weekend. There are also other well known local riders such as Kristina Cooke, Francis Whittington, Emily Llewellyn and Emily Baldwin.
There are many other International riders from America, New Zealand, Italy, Australia, Brazil and Belgium who will also be out with top horses.
South of England provides an opportunity for local riders to gain valuable points towards the South East Eventers’ League – an accumulator series where southeast-based riders can win points at local event.
Cross-country action starts at 10am on Saturday and Sunday and entrance is £10 per car including all occupants.
