Arun Arts Co Ltd is a charitable trust that oversees the running of the fantastic Regis Centre in Bognor. Opened in 1980, the Regis has been staging music, theatre, and dance performances for the past 30 years.
A great venue for locals and visitors from further afield, the Regis showcases a diverse mix of events and shows for all ages and tastes. It goes by many names, from the Alexander Theatre to the Hotham Arts Centre, but all of these galleries are under one roof, collectively known as The Regis Centre. Inside the building is a cinema, screening the latest box office hits, alongside a theatre for a variety of live acts.
Past performances include the ABBA tribute band, ABBA Gold, and a wonderful rendition of The Nutcracker, one of the most famous ballets of all time. For music lovers, a treat is in store on the first Friday of each month; resident musicians perform a 60-minute recital, joined by an established soloist every month. It’s worth a visit for those who enjoy classical music and really makes for a lovely evening out. Plus, for art lovers, there is a gallery displaying the work of many visual artists, with exhibitions held frequently throughout the year.
One of the highlights of the year at the Regis Centre comes around during the Christmas period: Pantomime. Guaranteed to be an entertaining visit for both young and old, this year’s performance will be Wizard of Oz. Be sure to get a ticket to watch Dorothy find fun, adventure and friends along the yellow brick road.
The facilities are also available for hire for functions or private events. The building is certainly a dramatic setting, with plenty of space for entertaining. Use of the bar can be arranged, and there is also a café and restaurant providing pre-performance or interval refreshments. The main aim of the Arun Arts Co is to promote and support the arts for a wide range of audiences, by using their main platform at the Regis Centre. With a varied programme of entertainment running throughout the year, The Regis Centre delivers a great venue for music, performances and art on the South Coast.
