Arundel Lido

Arundel LidoThere’s no better way to capture the essence of summer than by taking a dip in an outdoor pool. Granted the English weather can often be debatable but in true British fashion, crowds still flock to the water at the first glimpse of sunshine! Whether you're braving the chill or you’re enjoying one of the UK's many sunny days, the Arundel Lido is a great place to take the kids, and makes a change from the usual indoor swimming experience.

And if the clouds do come over, the heated pools are the warmest place to be! Arundel’s Lido opened in 1960 as a place for locals and visitors to swim, sunbathe and relax.

After a brief closure in 1999, the Lido was re-opened due to popular demand, and is now one of the town’s most popular attractions. Open from May until September, the Lido also holds various clubs for swimmers of all ages throughout the season. This provides a great social activity for local residents, as well as the chance for young swimmers to improve their abilities.

The Lido is within walking Arundel Lidodistance to Arundel’s shops, restaurants and attractions, making it a great way to spend an afternoon after visiting the attractive market town.

Alongside the main pool is a paddling pool for the younger children. There are plenty of grassy and shaded areas to pitch up some loungers and catch a few rays – some equipment is provided, but this is on a first-come, first- served basis.

There is also a grassy area ideal for sports and playing to build up an appetite for lunch. Grab a snack at the café and enjoy it in the picnic area or on the paved patio.

Arundel LidoArundel Lido can also be hired as a venue for special events, as well as holding a few of its own. Last season, during the popular Arundel Festival, the Lido played host to various children’s events, including a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and a family-friendly party night.
