With a reputation for hosting some of the world’s greatest horses and riders over the past 50 years, The Hickstead All England Jumping Course is one of the leading equestrian venues in the world. Recent refurbishment and renovation has given the ground a great reputation as Britain’s home of international show jumping. The ground attracts over 100,000 visitors every year to witness some of the best meetings in the equestrian calendar.
Experience Hickstead in a number of ways; a picnic in the grounds, or indulge in one of the elegant hospitality packages complete with champagne and a great view of the action. Hickstead has held many important championships over the years and with seating for over 5000 spectators, it’s a popular choice for family days out, special occasions and more.
The ground has two flagship meetings during the summer: The British Jumping Derby Meeting and the Longines Royal International Horse Show. These are particular highlights of the year, but there are plenty more events to enjoy, during both summer and winter. Weekly polo chukkas and matches are held, along with dressage, carriage driving and more.
Hickstead is home to the All England Polo Club, with matches played all year round. For those new to polo, the arena holds ‘taster days’ allowing beginners to experience the hugely successful game. The summer season runs from June until August, but the events don’t stop then. During the Christmas season, exclusive party nights and special celebrations make a festive night to remember.
Once the shows are over, enjoy the beautiful landscape and the natural surroundings of the South Downs. For a shopping fix, explore the retail village with over 250 exhibitors offering jewellery, clothing or souvenirs from the day. Within the grounds there’s also a choice of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Hickstead provides everything needed for a memorable day out.
