If you love a spot of horse racing, Brighton Racecourse is one of the most exciting tracks in the South of England. From its fantatsic location overlooking the city of Brighton & Hove, this undulating, left-handed and horseshoe shaped seaside course is one mile four furlongs in length and hosts flat racing from April until October.
Brighton Racecourse originates back to 1783, when the first official race meeting was held in the area. Now part of ARC, since purchasing the venue over four million pounds has been invested into the facilities.
August Festival of Racing - the three day festival gets bigger and better every year and features the Brighton Mile, Ladies Day and Fund-raising Friday.
Family Racedays in support of Rockinghorse appeal with plenty for all of the family to do on the day, including a Mascot Race, which was won by Rowlf the dog.
Brighton Racecourse has two types of basic tickets:
- Premier - a Premier Enclosure badge means you can take your place right on the winning line as the horses flash past the post. As well as access to all facilities in the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure you can also use the Premier Bar and Silks Restaurant.
- Grandstand & Paddock - This admission badge allows access to the main Grandstand including seating, the Long Bar complete with its café, seafood bar and Tote betting facilities, the Parade Ring, and the picnic area.
There's no strict dress code; Brighton Racecourse suggests smart/casual wear for both Enclosures. Smart Jeans and trainers are permitted. On feature Racedays however, racegoers enjoy dressing smartly for the occasion and many Ladies wear hats which is great fun.
