Eastbourne Theatres is the collective name for three distinct venues, the Congress Theatre, Devonshire Park Theatre and Winter Garden, each situated in the heart of Eastbourne’s cultural quarter, just a short walk from the seafront. They have a combined capacity of more than 3,500 seats.
The Grade II* listed Congress Theatre is the largest theatre on the South Coast and regularly hosts touring West End musicals and plays, ballet, opera, comedy and live music.
Dubbed ‘the Playhouse in the Park', The Devonshire Park Theatre is also a Grade II listed building dating from 1884. It is one of the best examples of small Victorian Theatre in the country with an ornate interior featuring decorative plasterwork.
The Winter Garden is a Grade II listed building, built by the seventh Duke of Devonshire in 1875. This historic building consists of two main parts - the Floral Hall, originally used as a skating rink in winter and concert hall in summer, and the Gold Room.
Eastbourne Theatres are easily accessible by road, rail or bus. The closest car park is on College Road (250m away from the rear of the Congress Theatre). This is a Pay and Display car park for 200 cars, but is free of charge after 6.30pm. There is also a limited amount of free, on-street parking.
