The Horse & Groom is fortunate to have two outstanding Chefs who, with their support staff, are key to providing you with a delicious meal, great service memorable occasion.
Firstly, our Head Chef Paul Rennie, has been at the pub since 1999 and helped us to establish an solid reputation for our food and service. Paul qualified as a Chef after four years training in the Lake District but then went on to train as a Catering Manager in Manchester. As Catering Manager Paul was entirely responsible for catering for up to one thousand people a day; this frequently included Chief Constables, Mayors and Managing Directors in the throng; so top quality ingredients, cooking and service were essential. Paul is passionate about the quality of service that the kitchen and waiting staff deliver at the Horse & Groom.
Secondly, Chef Malcolm Scott, 27 qualified as a Chef after four and a half years training across all disciplines at the ‘Idle Rock Hotel’ in Cornwall where he went on to specialise in exceptional seafood dishes.
Our menu style is the perfect compliment to the pub with plenty of emphasis on freshly caught fish and locally grown ingredients. The restaurant has a warm and cosy atmosphere with a light and spacious feel, traditional flint walls and old timber beams and double doors out to our fully enclosed garden; the perfect place for alfresco dining during the summer months.
