Type: Museum

Heaven Farm is unique and is well documented back to the year 1387.

The present buildings were erected in 1830 by a rich 19th Century land owner as his model home farm. The remarkable state of preservation captures a picture of a typical Victorian farm which remains little changed in 175 years.

The museum shows the flow of change in the farming and domestic ways of life of the families who have lived here - from the first farmer in 1830 to the demise by his grandchildren's generation in the 1950s.

The wood parkland and waterside walks of the Nature Trail hold Conservation Awards from the South of England Agricultural Society and Lewes Chamber of Commerce and have featured many times in BBC TV programmes.
In Spring see drifts of snow white wood anenomes and vistas of Bluebells. In summer, cools green glades of Foxgloves.
As you make your way around the trail there is much of interest - from an ancient Bloomery (probably Roman) to a "Millenium" water wheel. An old pack horse bridge, a 300 year old dam badger sets and foxes' earths. And don't forget the wallabies with their joeys lazing in the sun or hopping around.
The Nature Trail is open from 30 March to 31 October. Tickets are available from the Cart Lodge Craft Shop during openingand from the kiosk during Bluebell Sesson.

This delighful craft shop is located in a converted cart shed and sells a range of gifts, products and mementos suitable for all ages, including plants and sundries for your garden.
Many of the items are hand crafted locally using traditional and modern skills, making Cart Lodge the ideal place to find unique gifts.

The Tea Rooms and Restaurant are open throughout the year up until Christmas. Hot food is served all day and includes morning coffee, ploughmans lunches, afternoon tea.
The Tea Rooms are set in peaceful farmland surroundings with wonderful views.
Groups and coaches are welcome - please call 01825 790888 to advise when we can expect your party/group or to make a booking.
